Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications and services. Build secure, reliable, and high-performance RESTful APIs and, where appropriate, GraphQL services. Develop modular, maintainable, and reusable code following established software engineering principles. Make architectural decisions that support scalability, reliability, and long-term product growth. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, production issues, and technical debt. Design and optimize database schemas, queries, indexes, and data access patterns. Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support application requirements. Ensure data integrity, consistency, availability, and efficient storage. Implement caching strategies and other performance optimization techniques. Develop backend systems capable of handling increasing traffic and growing data volumes. Implement monitoring, logging, error handling, and fault-tolerance mechanisms. Participate in code reviews, automated testing, debugging, and production deployments. Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to improve deployment workflows and system observability. Work closely with product and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to coding standards, documentation, and engineering practices. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing systems. Must-have: Strong experience in Backend Engineering, including application development, API design, system architecture, and performance optimization.
