Employer description & source details
Monitor and evaluate Power Generation Block equipment performance daily using process data analysis, efficiency calculations, heat-rate assessments, KPI tracking, and dashboard updates. Perform engineering calculations, thermodynamic assessments, equipment evaluations, and technical studies to identify efficiency losses and improvement opportunities. Assess heat exchangers, steam-turbine-generator condensers, HRSGs, and cooling systems for heat transfer, fouling, and thermal efficiency. Support diagnostic programs for gas and steam turbines, review monthly performance reports, coordinate with OEMs, and develop corrective actions. Investigate process deviations, operational upsets, efficiency losses, and equipment performance issues. Provide daily process-engineering support to Operations, recommend corrective actions, optimize operating parameters, and review SOPs and EOPs. Support mechanical integrity programs and evaluate process impacts on equipment health. Conduct feasibility and improvement studies covering plant efficiency, reliability, steam-cycle performance, water consumption, and emissions. Support plant modifications, MOC activities, design notices, risk assessments, root-cause analyses, and commissioning. Prepare technical reports, performance summaries, recommendations, operating guidelines, and unit trip reports within 24 hours of an upset. Strong understanding of IGCC power-generation processes, P&IDs, PFDs, and H&MBs, including syngas-fired gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, steam-cycle systems, and power-block interfaces with gasification complexes. Advanced understanding of power-block equipment and steam-cycle systems, with the ability to evaluate equipment performance, heat rate, efficiency, and thermal losses using sound engineering principles and
